Gulu University is a public university in northern Uganda with a strong focus on agriculture, environmental management, natural resources, public health, and community-centered development. The University is widely recognized for its applied research, outreach-based learning, and commitment to addressing regional development challenges through science, innovation, and inclusive education.

Within the NISHATI Project, Gulu University contributes to capacity building in eco-agriculture, water management, and renewable energy through curriculum enrichment, applied research, staff training, and community engagement. The University plays an important role in promoting climate-smart agriculture, strengthening resilience of rural livelihoods, and integrating sustainability into higher education and extension services.

Through its participation in NISHATI, Gulu University reinforces its mission of transforming communities through sustainable resource management, skills development, innovation, and green economic recovery in Uganda and the wider East African region.
