Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) is Tanzania’s premier institution dedicated to agriculture, food systems, natural resource management, veterinary sciences, environmental studies, and rural development. The University is internationally recognized for its strong research capacity, innovation in agricultural sciences, and its long-standing contribution to sustainable livelihoods and food security in East Africa.

Within the NISHATI Project, SUA provides advanced technical expertise in eco-agriculture, sustainable land and water management, climate-smart farming systems, and renewable energy applications for agriculture. The University supports curriculum development, applied research, staff and student training, and the strengthening of eco-laboratories for hands-on learning.

Through its participation in NISHATI, Sokoine University of Agriculture strengthens regional capacity for resilient food systems, sustainable natural resource use, green innovation, and climate-resilient economic development in Tanzania and across the East African region.
