The University of Technology & Arts of Byumba (UTAB) is a leading higher education institution in northern Rwanda, with a strong focus on agriculture, environmental studies, engineering, education, and applied sciences. UTAB is committed to producing skilled graduates, advancing practical research, and supporting sustainable socio-economic development through innovation and community engagement.

Under the NISHATI Project, UTAB contributes to capacity building in eco-agriculture, water management, and renewable energy through curriculum development, training of academic staff, and hands-on student learning. The University is actively involved in strengthening eco-laboratories, promoting climate-smart farming practices, and integrating green skills into academic programmes aligned with Rwanda’s long-term green growth and climate-resilient strategy.

Through its participation in NISHATI, UTAB reinforces its role in advancing sustainable development, youth skills empowerment, green innovation, and climate resilience in Rwanda and across the East African region.
