Dr. Carlos Rioja del Río is an accomplished engineer and Professor in the Computer Engineering Department at the University of Cádiz. He holds a European PhD and brings over two decades of experience in academia and private engineering consultancy. His expertise includes collaboration with the Spanish Ministry of Defense on earthquake prevention and response initiatives.
Dr. Rioja del Río has held several leadership roles, including Vice-Rector for Digitalization and Infrastructure at the University of Cádiz. He has directed major European projects such as STIMEY under Horizon 2020 and has played a key role in the European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI), serving as Chair of the Curriculum Development Working Group and as a member of the SEFI Board of Directors. His international collaborations include partnerships with institutions such as Harvard University and MIT’s Open Learning division.
